The experience
The day starts before dawn with pickup at your Hurghada or El Gouna hotel at 3 AM, giving you the 280-mile drive to Cairo to rest. Once you arrive, a private guide joins you for the rest of the day. You'll stand in front of the Giza Pyramids (the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure), and ride a camel around them for an hour before moving to the plateau itself.
The ATV portion lasts one hour on the Giza Plateau, where you operate the four-wheeler across the desert with the pyramids visible from the sand. After that, you'll head to the Nile for a 30-minute felucca sail, a traditional wooden boat, to see Cairo from the water before visiting the Egyptian Museum. The museum holds over 250,000 artifacts spanning 5,000 years, including the Tutankhamen collection of gold and jewelry sealed in his tomb for 3,500 years before its discovery in the 1920s. Lunch at a local restaurant with pyramid views comes before the drive back to Hurghada, arriving late in the evening.
The package includes all entrance fees, the camel ride, the ATV hour, the felucca sail, lunch, bottled water and a soft drink during the drive, and return transport in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, German or one of two other languages, and the operator notes the day suits all fitness levels.
