The experience
You spend the morning at the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx, then get behind the handlebars of a quad bike to explore the Giza Plateau from the desert itself. The one-hour ATV ride takes you across the sand where you can see the monuments from angles most visitors never reach. After that comes a camel ride around all three main pyramids (the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure), which gives you time to photograph them and take in the scale of what you're standing in front of.
Lunch happens at a local Cairo restaurant, then you have time to browse the Papyrus Museum and the Essential Oil shop before the evening begins. At sunset, you board the Nile Maxim dinner cruise for a two-hour sail down the river. A buffet dinner, belly dancers, and an Egyptian folklore show run the whole time, and the lights of downtown Cairo pass by as you eat. A private air-conditioned vehicle handles all the transfers, and your guide speaks English, German, Arabic, or Polish depending on which option you book.
The tour runs eight hours total and is private, meaning it's just your group and your guide: no strangers added to the van or the camel ride. Bottled water and soft drinks come with you in the vehicle. Entrance to all the sites is covered in the price, though going inside the pyramids themselves (Khufu costs $24, Khafre $6) requires a separate ticket you buy on the day if you want to enter.

Is this one for you?The ATV segment is the defining piece here. You're not watching someone else drive, you're operating the quad bike yourself across the desert for a full hour. Book this if you want to move through the Giza Plateau under your own power rather than stay in a vehicle or on a camel the whole time.
