The experience

The drive south from Luxor spans most of the day, but the three temples justify the distance. Edfu Temple of Horus stands as one of Egypt's best-preserved sanctuaries, its massive pylons and inner chambers still bearing carved hieroglyphics and painted reliefs. Kom Ombo Temple sits on a bend in the Nile and was built for two gods at once (Sobek the crocodile god and Haroeris the falcon god), so its layout mirrors itself down the center. Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis, occupies an island and requires a motorboat to reach (arranged separately). Its colonnaded courts and pylons rise directly from the water.

Your guide travels with you in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, speaking English or Arabic throughout the day. Water and soft drinks are provided. The tour runs 13 to 14 hours total, which accounts for the long drive, time at each temple and the return journey. You're picked up from your hotel in Luxor and can either be dropped in Aswan at the end of the day or driven back to Luxor, depending on your choice at booking.

Entry tickets to the temples are optional at checkout. You can add them or arrange them separately. An Egyptologist guide is also available as an add-on if you want deeper historical context beyond what your standard guide provides. Tipping is not included in the price.
