4-Day Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor: Abu Simbel & Hot Air Balloon
Float down the Nile with eight temples and a sunrise balloon ride built into the same four days.
A 4-day Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor with three nights aboard a 5-star ship, visiting Philae Temple, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings. The itinerary spaces out the major sites so you spend real time at each one instead of rushing through. Meals are provided on board; an English-speaking guide leads the temple tours; hot air balloon and Abu Simbel are optional. The tour ends in Luxor by mid-afternoon on day four.

The experience
The cruise departs from Aswan with pickup from your hotel or the airport, then heads straight to the Aswan High Dam before a motorboat takes you to Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and relocated to its current island location decades ago. You board the 5-star cruise ship that evening and overnight there. Day two includes an optional early visit to Abu Simbel (if you booked that add-on), then the ship sails south to Kom Ombo Temple. Day three brings the Temple of Horus at Edfu in the morning, a crossing through the Esna Lock, and an afternoon tour of Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple on the east bank. All transfers between sites happen by air-conditioned vehicle with a qualified driver.
The final morning on day four is reserved for the west bank of Luxor: the Valley of the Kings, where six pharaohs including Tutankhamun were buried; the Temple of Hatshepsut, built by Egypt's only female ruler; and the Colossi of Memnon, the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. A hot air balloon ride at sunrise is available as an optional add-on and includes pickup, the flight itself, and a certificate. The balloon can be cancelled by the ministry of aviation if weather turns bad, with a full refund. The tour ends with drop-off at your Luxor hotel or the train station by 3 to 4 PM.
Three nights of accommodation on the cruise ship are included on a full-board basis, meaning breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board. The guide speaks English and is trained in Egyptology. All local taxes, service charges, landing fees and parking are covered. A motorboat ride to Philae and a cart ride at Edfu temple are part of the itinerary. You'll be added to a WhatsApp group before departure to coordinate pickup logistics. The specific cruise ship is assigned a few days before the trip once it receives sailing permission from the Egyptian government.
