The experience

The tour splits across two days so you can move through Luxor's major sites without rushing. Day one takes you to the West Bank, where you'll walk into the Valley of the Kings (the burial ground of pharaohs including Tutankhamun, Ramses II and Seti I), then climb the terraced ramps of the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, built by the 18th Dynasty pharaoh around 1479 BC. You'll also see the Colossi of Memnon, two 18-meter quartzite statues of Amenhotep III seated on thrones, standing near what was once his mortuary temple complex.

Day two moves to the East Bank and the Temple of Karnak, a sprawling complex built over more than 2,000 years with three main temples, the famous Hypostyle Hall of 134 massive columns, and a sacred lake used for religious ceremonies. The tour ends at Luxor Temple on the same bank, originally built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II in the 14th century BC and dedicated to Amun, Mut and Khonsu. An Egyptologist guide travels with you both days in an air-conditioned vehicle, providing context for what you're seeing.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with all service charges and taxes. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and all areas and surfaces accommodate mobility needs. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller, or sit on an adult's lap.

What's inside the tombs at the Valley of the Kings?

The Valley of the Kings holds the burial chambers of Egypt's most famous pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Ramses II and Seti I. The tombs contain hieroglyphic inscriptions, reliefs and artifacts that reveal how ancient Egyptians prepared for the afterlife, though many have been damaged or emptied over the centuries. Your guide will explain what you're seeing as you walk through.

Does the tour include entrance fees to the temples and Valley of the Kings?

Entrance fees to all sites are not included in the tour price and must be paid separately. The tour covers transport, your Egyptologist guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, and all service charges and taxes.

What makes the Temple of Hatshepsut different from the other temples on this tour?

The Temple of Hatshepsut is a funerary temple built for a female pharaoh around 1479 BC and stands out for its three terraces connected by ramps, with colonnades featuring Hathor-headed columns and chapels dedicated to various gods. It's considered one of Egypt's most beautiful monuments and sits in the Theban Necropolis on the west bank, unlike Karnak and Luxor Temple which are on the east bank.
