The experience

Your guide, an Egyptologist, meets you at your hotel and shapes both days around what you want to see. Day 1 starts at the Egyptian Museum, where you move through galleries of Tutankhamun's treasures and walk through different eras of ancient Egyptian history at your own pace. Lunch comes before you head to Old Cairo, where you explore the streets on foot, stop inside the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, and browse Khan El Khalili bazaar: the warren of stalls selling spices, textiles, and crafts that has operated for centuries. A traditional felucca, a wooden sailing boat, takes you down the Nile between these stops. You'll have tea before returning to your hotel.

Day 2 starts whenever you're ready. The same guide drives you to Giza to see the three pyramids and the Great Sphinx, then south to Sakkara's ancient pyramid fields and Memphis's open-air museum, where colossal statues and temple blocks lie in the sand. You can pay extra to go inside one of the pyramids or take a camel ride. Otherwise, you walk the sites and photograph from the ground. Lunch and soft drinks come both days. The guide brings you back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza by late afternoon.

The private car or van means no waiting for other groups, and the same Egyptologist guide for both days means you don't repeat context or lose momentum between stops. Hotel pickup and drop-off, entrance tickets to every site, and the felucca ride are all included. You choose whether to add the pyramid interior or the camel ride.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian and Romanian.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (2 to 9 years).

What's inside the Egyptian Museum that makes it worth a full morning?

The Egyptian Museum holds the treasures of Tutankhamun (his gold mask, furniture, chariots, and the objects buried with him) along with mummies, statues, and artifacts spanning thousands of years of pharaonic rule. Your guide walks you through the different eras so you understand what you're looking at, not just what it is.

How much time do you spend at the Giza Pyramids and can you go inside?

You spend the morning at Giza seeing the three pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Entry to walk around the site is included. If you want to go inside one of the pyramids, that's an optional add-on you can book at checkout.

What is Khan El Khalili bazaar like, and do you have to buy anything?

Khan El Khalili is a sprawling marketplace in Old Cairo with hundreds of stalls selling spices, textiles, jewelry, souvenirs, and crafts. You explore the narrow lanes with your guide, who can point out the best sections and explain what you're seeing, but there's no pressure to buy: many travelers just walk through and soak in the energy.

Is the felucca ride included, and what's it like?

Yes, a one-hour felucca ride on the Nile is included on Day 1. A felucca is a traditional wooden sailing boat with a large triangular sail. You sit on deck while it catches the wind, and it's one of the quieter moments between the museum and Old Cairo.
