The experience
Seminario Park is the first stop, where you walk among iguanas and learn about Simon Bolivar and the city's history. From there the tour moves to the Cathedral of Guayaquil to see the architecture and art tied to Ecuador's main religion, then heads to Malecon 2000, the waterfront promenade where you can stand for photos with the statues of Simon Bolivar and San Martin and understand their significance to the city.
Las Penas is the neighborhood of colorful houses built into the hillside. You have the option to climb the 444 steps up to the lighthouse if you want the view, or stay at street level and browse the handicraft market and supermarket for last-minute souvenirs at low prices. At the end of the tour, your guide will present restaurant options and you choose where to eat dinner before heading back to the airport.
The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese. Transportation is private, so the pace and stops are yours alone, and the driver handles all the logistics of getting you from the airport, through the city and back in time for your next flight.

Is this one for you?The 3 to 4 hour window fits a layover between flights but leaves no time for sites outside the city center. Book this if you want the main landmarks and a meal without the stress of arranging transport yourself, and if your layover is long enough to leave the airport and return with a buffer before your next departure.
