The experience
The tour starts at a working farm where coffee, fruit trees, and hydroponic vegetables grow side by side. The owner meets you there and explains what makes growing coffee in the Galapagos different: the volcanic soil, the climate, the labor involved. You'll see the plants themselves, watch how beans are selected and gathered, and learn the steps that turn a cherry into the coffee that reaches your cup. The farm also grows other crops using hydroponic methods, so you get a sense of how agriculture actually works on the islands, not just the coffee side.
After the walk through the plantations, you move to the tasting. Two Galapagos coffee blends are brewed in front of you using the V60 method: a careful, hands-on brewing process that brings out the flavors. You taste both, learning to pick up the aromas and distinct notes each one carries. The coffee tells you something about the island's terroir and the care that goes into production. You're sitting on the farm while you do this, surrounded by the landscape where the beans grew.
