4x4 Off-Road Adventure in Punta Cana: Chocolate, Coffee & Beach
You drive the 4x4 through the forest; the farm, the cave and the beach come to you.
A 4x4 off-road activity in Punta Cana where you drive an ATV through tropical forest and plantations, stop to taste organic Dominican chocolate, coffee, Mamajuana and tea at a local farm, swim in the freshwater cenote at Cueva de la Aventura, and finish at Macao Beach. The experience runs about four hours with hotel pickup and drop-off included. A safety briefing and ATV instruction happen before you leave the ranch, and you choose between sharing a quad bike or driving your own.
The Experience
You start with a pickup from your Punta Cana hotel in the morning, noon or afternoon — whenever you book — and head to a nearby 4x4 ranch where the real work begins. A safety briefing walks you through the controls, and once you feel ready, you're behind the wheel of an ATV headed into the forest. The drive takes you through lush tropical landscape and working plantations, and the guide leads the way so you follow the route without navigating it yourself.
The first real stop is an organic farm where you taste Dominican chocolate, coffee, Mamajuana rum and Dominican tea — all grown or made on the property. From there you continue to Taino Ecological Park and then to Cueva de la Aventura, an underground cave with a freshwater cenote where you can swim. The water is spring-fed and stays cold year-round, and you'll have roughly twenty minutes to get in and cool off. Bring a swimsuit and water shoes or closed-toe shoes; the cave floor is uneven and the water is deep enough to dive.
The final stop is Macao Beach, a long sandy stretch backed by limestone cliffs where you have about twenty minutes to walk, sit or wade before heading back to the ranch and your hotel. The whole outing takes four hours from pickup to drop-off, and a guide who speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or other languages travels with your group the entire time.

Can I drive my own ATV or do I have to share one?
You choose at checkout: one person per quad bike means you drive alone, or two people share a quad bike if you want to ride together. Either way, the guide leads and you follow the route through the forest.
What exactly is Cueva de la Aventura and what do I do there?
Cueva de la Aventura is an underground cave with a natural freshwater cenote — a spring-fed pool inside the cave. You swim in it for about twenty minutes. The water is clear and cold, and the cave ceiling is limestone with natural light filtering through.
Is Macao Beach included, and how much time do I get there?
Yes, Macao Beach is the last stop on the itinerary. You have approximately twenty minutes to walk the sand, wade or relax before returning to the ranch and your hotel.
What happens if I've never driven an ATV before?
The ranch gives you a safety briefing and instruction on the ATV controls before you leave. You'll practice until you feel confident, and the guide stays with your group the entire route through the forest.
Does the price include the tastings at the farm?
Yes, the chocolate, coffee, Mamajuana rum and tea tasting at the organic farm is included. You also get round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off, and a guide for the full four hours.
What do I need to bring or wear?
Bring a swimsuit, water shoes or closed-toe shoes for the cenote, and sunscreen and sunglasses if you have them. Old clothes are fine since you'll be on a dusty forest trail. The cenote and beach time mean you'll get wet, so plan accordingly.
