The Experience

The day starts with a scenic drive to La Romana, where you board a two-story catamaran bound for Catalina Island. Your first dive is The Wall, an impressive coral formation that drops to depths between 33 and 99 feet—one of the Dominican Republic's most pristine sites. You'll move through colorful reef gardens and encounter octopuses, vase sponges, flamingo tongues, and lion and scorpion fish. The guide leads the descent and stays with the group throughout.

Your second dive takes you to The Aquarium on the opposite side of the island, a shallower site with a maximum depth of 40 feet. Here the water teems with moray eels, lobsters, and yellow stingrays—the reason it earned its name. Between dives and after you surface for the last time, you have time to decompress and prepare for the next descent. All scuba equipment is provided and fitted before you enter the water.

After diving, the boat anchors at Catalina Island's beach. A Caribbean-style buffet lunch and open bar await under the palms and white sand. You have free time to relax and explore the island until 3:00 PM, when the catamaran departs for La Romana. Roundtrip hotel transportation is included; your driver will be waiting at the port to return you to your hotel. The full outing runs about 11 hours from pickup to drop-off.
