Step-by-step itinerary
ATV adventure through Dominican nature
- Pickup at Amber Cove main gate
- Pickup at Taino Bay front gate
- Receive gear and safety instructions
- Drive through Maimon village
- Visit cigar rolling shack and sample drinks
- Stop at local beach for optional swim
The experience
You get picked up from either Amber Cove or Taino Bay and driven to the home base in Maimon, about 10 minutes from Amber Cove or 30 minutes from Taino Bay. There you receive your helmet, goggles and ATV, along with a few safety instructions before you head out. The riding itself is the core: you drive your own machine through the small village of Maimon, across fields and into the mountains, then down to the beach. The pace and route are guided, so you're not navigating alone, but you're the one operating the ATV the whole time.
Two stops break up the ride. The first is at an authentic cigar rolling shack where someone shows you how cigars are made. You sample organic hot chocolate and coffee there, and a small shop sells local products if you want to take something home. The second stop is at a local beach where swimming is optional. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to go in the water. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty and dirty. The terrain is rough and you will get covered.
The activity ends when you're driven back to your port or hotel. A live guide speaks English or Spanish throughout, and the whole outing fits inside a port day or a morning in Puerto Plata.
