The experience
The boat leaves Islands Brygge with no more than nine people aboard: small enough that you're not competing for the captain's attention or jostling for a view. Once onboard, the captain takes you through Frederiksholms Canal past Christiansborg, where Denmark's parliament sits, and the burnt-down Børsen building with its distinctive spire. The silence of the electric motor means conversation flows naturally. You can ask the captain anything about what you're seeing without raising your voice.
The route heads toward Nyhavn, where the colorful facades and old boats line the waterfront, then continues to Skuespilhuset, the Royal Danish Theatre's modern acting stage built right on the water. From there you'll see Ofelia Plads, a cultural space hosting year-round events, before reaching Amalienborg Palace, the royal family's residence, and the impressive Marble Church beside it. The final stretch takes you through Christianholms Canal, where the Church of Our Savior comes into view, and you pass under the Circle Bridge on the way back.
Beverages and snacks are available to purchase at the dock before departure: wine, rosé, beer, soda, water, ice cream and chips. Life vests are provided. The tour suits all fitness levels and service animals are welcome. Public transport stops nearby if you need to reach Islands Brygge.
