The Experience

I didn’t expect to start my day in Prague wobbling slightly on a fat-tire e-scooter, but here we were — helmets on, the Vltava still waking up behind us. Our guide, Pavel, had this easy way of making everyone relax (even the British couple who kept joking about their driving skills). The city felt different from up here; you catch little things you’d miss walking — the smell of fresh bread drifting from Letná Park or that weird metallic click from the Metronome. I kept glancing at the skyline and thinking: wow, this is actually happening.

We zipped through Letná Park where locals lounged with their dogs, then paused at a viewpoint over Prague Castle. Pavel pointed out rooftops and told us how the Strahov Monastery brewed beer for centuries — he even recommended a pub for later (I wrote it down but lost the napkin). Switching to Segways was honestly hilarious. There’s this moment when you first step on and your brain just refuses to trust it. But after a few minutes in Ladronka Park, I was grinning like an idiot. It’s quieter than I thought too — all you hear is wind and distant chatter.

The John Lennon Wall was more colorful than I imagined — layers of paint and messages everywhere. Someone was playing guitar nearby, not very well, but it fit somehow. We stopped for photos by Charles Bridge (Pavel offered to take them — he’s got some kind of sixth sense for good angles) before rolling past the Franz Kafka Museum. By then my legs were a bit jelly-ish but in a good way. The whole tour felt like skipping lines and crowds without missing anything important.
