The Experience

I didn’t think I’d ever cruise through the grounds of Prague Castle on something called a SCROOSER — honestly, I had to Google what that even was. Turns out it’s like a cross between a scooter and an e-bike but with these chunky wheels that make you grin as soon as you start rolling. Our guide, Jakub, handed me a helmet and grinned back at my nervous laugh. He said not to worry — “You’ll get used to it before we even reach Charles Bridge.” And yeah, he was right. There’s this weird freedom in gliding past the crowds along the riverbank while everyone else is stuck walking or waiting for trams.

The first real surprise was how quiet Letná Park felt compared to the city below — just birds and the hum of our bikes. We stopped at the giant metronome (I’d never heard about Stalin’s statue before; Jakub told us how locals skateboard here now). The view over Prague’s rooftops from up there? It’s not just pretty — it makes you feel small in a good way. The air smelled like cut grass and distant beer from the garden nearby. I fumbled with my camera but honestly just wanted to stand there for another minute.

Riding up to Strahov Monastery was bumpier than I expected — cobblestones do not care about your comfort — but we got rewarded with a quick break and stories about monks brewing beer since medieval times. That’s sort of what this whole day felt like: seeing Prague’s famous spots but sideways, with time to notice things you’d miss on foot or by bus.
