The experience

You board at Protaras Pier in the late afternoon and sail west along the coast toward the landmarks that define this stretch of water. Fig Tree Bay appears first: the beach ranked third in Europe by review sites in 2011, its sand and shallows visible from the deck. The route then traces the Cape Greco peninsula, a protected natural park wedged between Protaras and Ayia Napa, where the water deepens and the cliffs rise. You pass the whitewashed Agioi Anargyroi Chapel, built on a cliff edge in the 1950s and now a wedding venue, and sail into Konnos Bay to see the Cyclops Cave, the mythical hideout of Homer's one-eyed giant. The boat also passes Green Bay, a calm diving site, and Anthea's Cave, carved into the cliff face, before reaching Kamara tou Koraka: a natural stone arch the locals call Lovers' Bridge.

At Cape Greco's Blue Lagoon, the boat anchors for a 30-minute swim. Snorkelling equipment is provided free. You can explore the underwater world at your own pace or simply float in the clear water. The crew serves fresh seasonal fruit and champagne (or squash for children) as the light begins to shift. WiFi is available onboard if you want to share the moment, and there's a restroom if you need it.

The return to Protaras Pier happens as the sun sets, the sky turning orange and pink behind the Cape Greco Lighthouse: the second lighthouse ever built in Cyprus, standing on the island's easternmost point. The whole outing takes three hours from departure to return.
