The experience
You start at Atatürk Cultural Center, just 250 meters from Kyrenia Gate, one of the Walled City's main entrances. From there you pedal toward the gate itself, pause to learn its history, then cycle through the narrow streets of old Nicosia: past Saman Bahce (the city's first public housing project) and the Venetian Column, a landmark on the central roundabout. The route is built around the border itself: you'll reach Ledra Palace, the crossing point where you move from one side of the divided city to the other in moments, then continue past Paphos Gate and its eleven bastions, where you can see the Turkish side above and the Greek side below.
The tour takes you through both neighborhoods on a single route. You'll cycle a bustling pedestrian street lined with shops (walking certain sections if crowds build), cross back to the north side, and stop for about 15 minutes at a local coffee shop in Buyuk Han, where locals drink traditional Cypriot Turkish coffee. The Great Inn also holds a souvenir market. The Gamblers' Inn nearby is ringed with cafes. You end at the heart of the historic walls, equidistant from all eleven bastions, after passing through Bandabulya Municipality market with its fresh produce and traditional goods. The three-hour ride includes water, snacks, a helmet and a live English-speaking guide.
What’s included
