The experience
The trip starts just outside Green Bay beach, a small peninsula where sea turtles often feed. From there you paddle south along the Cape Greko coastline, staying outside the rocky headland until you reach the tip of Konnos beach, one of the island's best, where you can stop to swim and snorkel. The water here is usually calm and crystal clear, especially in summer.
Continuing south, you pass the Agioi Anargyroi chapel, a small cycladic structure on the cliff with a sea cave below it that once served as a sanctuary. Further down the coast sits Crow's Arch, a natural rock bridge you can paddle under. On the return, you retrace the coastline at a different pace, giving you a second look at the rock formations and more time to explore. If the sea stays calm, snorkeling happens at Konnos beach or back near Green Bay, where the operator says sea turtle sightings are very good. You bring sun protection, drinking water and water shoes. The guide provides the kayak, paddle, personal flotation device, snorkeling gear and a small dry bag.
The trip is private (just you and the guide, maximum two kayakers), and runs 4 hours. Pickup is included. If you're staying in Protaras without a car, the operator can arrange it. The route is customizable: if rough seas are forecast, you'll paddle around the Cape Greko sea caves instead, or the trip cancels if conditions are unsafe everywhere.

What's the water like for kayaking around Cape Greko?
The Cape Greko coastline is known for crystal clear water that is usually calm, especially during summer. The rocky shoreline has various formations including natural arches and caves, and the seafloor is shallow enough near Konnos beach and Green Bay for sea turtles to feed, making those spots the best for snorkeling.
Can I snorkel during the kayaking trip?
Snorkeling is included when the sea is calm, which happens very often in summer. You stop at Konnos beach or Green Bay, and the guide provides snorkeling equipment. Sea turtle spotting is possible at both locations, though sightings are not guaranteed.
How do I get to Green Bay beach if I don't have a car?
Pickup is included with the trip. The operator can arrange a free ride to Green Bay beach, the meeting point just outside the organized beach area. Public transportation options are also available nearby if you prefer to make your own way.
What happens if the sea is rough on the day of my trip?
If rough seas are forecast for the Cape Greko route, the trip switches to paddling around the Cape Greko sea caves instead. If conditions are unsafe everywhere, the trip is canceled. The guide decides based on the weather forecast.
What's included in the kayaking trip?
