Step-by-step itinerary

Kayaking around Agia Napa Sea Caves

  • Start at Limnara beach
  • Kayak along scenic coastlines
  • Enter two sea caves
  • Visit Lovers' Bridge
  • Return to Limnara beach

The experience

You paddle a single sit-on-top kayak (light at 18 kilograms and stable enough for beginners) from Limnara Beach, about 3 kilometers east of the Ayia Napa Sea Caves complex. The route depends on the morning's weather forecast: if the sea is calm, you head west toward the caves and Lovers' Bridge. If chop is forecast there but the east coast looks better, the guide reroutes you around Green Bay and toward Cape Greko instead. Either way, the group stays small, four kayakers plus the guide, so the pace is manageable and the guide can watch everyone.

When conditions allow entry to the sea caves, you paddle into formations carved into the rock: some are narrow enough that you have to duck, others open into wider chambers or natural arches. One cave has two entrances, so you can paddle in one way and out the other. The water is usually clear enough to see the bottom. Lovers' Bridge, a famous natural rock arch, is part of the same complex. The whole trip takes about 4 hours, and you're back at Limnara Beach by early afternoon: timing that matters because the sea is calmest before midday.

You'll get wet, so leave anything that can't handle salt water on shore. The kayak comes with a paddle, a personal flotation device, and a small dry bag for keys or a phone. The guide handles navigation and safety. You handle the paddle. A car ride to and from the beach is included, and the guide speaks English.

  • Use of a sit-on-top kayak, paddle and personal flotation device.
  • small dry bag for personal items.
  • services of an experienced English-speaking guide.
  • free car pickup and drop-off at Limnara Beach.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.

Can I kayak the sea caves year-round?

The sea caves are closed from November through April to protect Mediterranean monk seals and their pups that shelter there during winter. Outside those months, the trip runs whenever the sea is calm enough. If rough conditions are forecast, the guide offers an alternative route around Green Bay and Cape Greko instead, or cancels if weather is poor everywhere.

What happens if I'm not a strong swimmer?

You need to be able to swim. The kayaks float and everyone wears a personal flotation device, but the guide expects all paddlers to be comfortable in the water in case of a capsize.

How much does the kayak weigh and can I store things on it?

Each kayak weighs 18 kilograms and has some storage space on board. The kayak is rated for a maximum load of 125 kilograms total, so you and your gear together should not exceed 100 kilograms.

What's included in the price?

The kayak, paddle, personal flotation device, dry bag, guide services, and a free car ride to and from Limnara Beach are all included. You should bring your own water, as the operator does not provide bottled water.

What's the minimum age to kayak?

The minimum age is 12 years old. Children and adults must be able to swim and weigh no more than 100 kilograms per kayak.

Is this trip suitable if I have back or heart problems?

The operator does not recommend this activity for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness to paddle for several hours.
