The experience
You arrive for a short safety briefing and instructions on operating the Sublue scooter: a handheld device with twin propellers that does the swimming for you. Once in the turquoise Caribbean Sea, you simply hold on and let it pull you across the surface or down into the water. The guide leads the way, pointing out hidden marine life and coral formations as you glide past them. Because the scooter handles propulsion, you cover more distance and see more reef than you would on foot or by swimming, and you arrive back without the exhaustion traditional snorkeling leaves behind.
The scooter works for swimmers of all skill levels: beginners find it easier than treading water, and experienced swimmers enjoy the speed and the chance to cover ground they'd normally miss. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, German or Dutch and stays with the group throughout, narrating what you're seeing and steering the route. Snorkeling equipment is provided. Bring a towel of your own.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, German and Dutch.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is a Sublue underwater scooter and how does it work?
A Sublue scooter is a motorized handheld device with twin propellers that propels you through the water with minimal effort on your part. You hold on and it pulls you forward, either along the surface or underwater, so you can cover distance and explore without the physical strain of traditional swimming or snorkeling.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer or have diving experience to use the scooter?
No. The scooter is designed for all swimming abilities, from beginners to experienced swimmers. Because the device does the propulsion work, you don't need to be a strong swimmer, and no diving certification is required. You stay at the surface or just below it.
What will I see on the reef in Curaçao?
Curaçao's reefs are home to vibrant coral formations and colorful tropical fish. Your guide will point out marine life and hidden features along the route, and because the scooter lets you cover more ground than you would swimming, you'll encounter more of the reef in a single outing.
How long is the snorkeling session, and what's included?
The experience lasts one hour and includes the scooter, snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel), a safety briefing, and a guide who leads the group and narrates what you're seeing. You'll need to bring your own towel.
What's the minimum age to join?
Participants must be at least 16 years old. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or who are pregnant.
