The experience

The tour opens at a viewpoint overlooking Korčula, then heads to Lumbarda on the southern coast, where Grk, an autochthonous white wine, has been made for centuries. You'll taste it at a local winery and learn the history of the grape, which may have arrived with Greek settlers in the fourth and third centuries BC. From there the route turns inland through Žrnovo and Pupnat, passing Pupnatska Luka, one of the island's most striking bays, before continuing toward Čara and Smokvica where the vineyards open up across the landscape.

At two of the island's most prominent wineries, you'll taste Pošip and other local wines. The drive back to Korčula follows the northwest coast, where additional viewpoints break up the route and show why the island draws people back. A licensed guide leads the whole day in English, and the vehicle comes with a driver, so you move between stops without navigating or parking yourself. Bottled water and snacks are included.
