The experience
The day starts at Borik marina just outside Zadar's old town. You'll sail across the Zadar Channel toward Ugljan, passing the red-and-white Puntamika Lighthouse at the peninsula's tip, with mainland mountains rising in the background. The skipper knows these waters and handles the boat while you settle in for the crossing.
Once you reach Ugljan, the boat anchors in a secluded bay for about an hour. This is where you snorkel. The water is clear and the bay untouched. Snorkeling gear is provided. You can also swim or simply float and watch the sea. After that, you'll visit a small village on the island with two hours of free time. Walk the quiet streets, grab lunch at a local tavern, have coffee by the water, or take another swim. The village is authentic and unhurried, nothing staged.
On the return sail through the Zadar Channel, you have a choice. You can relax on deck and watch the coast slide past, or if you want to, the skipper will teach you how sailing works: how the wind fills the sails and how they're adjusted. It's not a sailing lesson in the formal sense. It's a chance to understand what's happening as you glide back to Zadar. The whole trip takes nine hours from start to finish.
Is this one for you?Pick this if you want hands-on sailing lessons during the return journey. Skip it if you prefer to relax and watch the skipper handle the boat.
