The experience
Two hours is all this takes, and it happens in one place: a hidden cellar in Zagreb where the meal unfolds at its own pace. You'll start with an appetizer of homemade cold cuts, cheese and bread, move into a main course of traditional dishes like Mlinci with duck or turkey (the kitchen decides based on what's available that day), and finish with a seasonal dessert: fruit, cheese or the local sweet Salejnaci. Four glasses of wine come with it: two white, two red, all chosen to match what's on the table. A glass of sparkling wine opens the meal.
The point is not to see Zagreb from the outside. You're sitting down the way a local does on an ordinary day: no scripts, no schedule, no guide pointing at landmarks through a window. The person hosting knows the city and shares a few genuine stories about how people here actually live, but the meal itself is the thing. You taste, you eat, you talk. It's the kind of lunch that turns into a conversation because there's nowhere else to be.
A guide speaks English or German. Pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own transport to the cellar. The minimum age is 18. Service animals are welcome. If you tip the crew, that's separate, not built into the price.

Is this one for you?The whole experience is two hours in one cellar, so it fits easily into a day in Zagreb without eating up the morning or afternoon. Choose this if you want to eat the way locals do rather than follow a tour route, and if you'd rather sit and talk than walk and look.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and German.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of food will I eat at this lunch?
The main course is traditional Croatian homemade cooking: Mlinci with duck, turkey, Zagreb steak or another dish depending on what the kitchen has that day. You start with an appetizer of homemade cold cuts, cheese and fresh bread, and finish with a seasonal dessert like fresh fruit, cheese or Salejnaci, a local sweet.
How much wine do I drink, and what kind?
You get four glasses total: two white and two red, both chosen to go with the food. A glass of sparkling wine starts the meal. All the wines are local selections.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the cellar?
No. Pickup is included, so transport to the cellar is part of the booking. You don't need to find the location or get yourself there.
Is this a formal tour with a guide pointing things out?
No. You sit at one table for the whole two hours. The host shares a few genuine stories about Croatian life and culture, but there's no script, no schedule and no moving between stops. It's a meal, not a sightseeing tour.
