Rafting on the Cetina River near Split is a 5-hour paddle through a canyon with waterfalls, optional cliff jumping and cave exploring, and swimming in clear water. You choose your meeting point—Split with hotel pickup or the Rio Rafting Camp near Podašpilje—and all rafting gear, helmets and wetsuits are provided. A certified local guide leads groups of any size, and GoPro footage captures the run.

The Experience

The Cetina River cuts through a canyon lined with waterfalls and rock formations that rise straight from the water. You paddle 11 km downstream with a certified guide who knows every bend and eddy; the pace is steady enough for beginners and families with children from age 3, but the current keeps things moving. Along the way you pass through caves, swim in pools where the water runs so clear you see the riverbed, and have the option to jump from cliffs into deep water—or skip it and float instead. Every moment gets recorded on a GoPro Hero 13, so you leave with footage of yourself on the river.

The trip takes about 5 hours from start to finish. If you book with transportation, you meet at Super Konzum Sirobuja in Split and ride to the launch point; if you drive yourself, park near Radmanove Mlinice at the Rio Rafting Camp and your vehicle waits for you at the finish. Either way, the team handles the shuttle logistics so you only show up and paddle. All equipment is included—helmet, life jacket, paddle, and a wetsuit if the water is cold—so you bring nothing but a swimsuit and a towel.

Rio Rafting is a small team of local guides who have worked together for years and built the trip around what actually happens on the river rather than what sounds good in a description. No previous experience is required; the guide adjusts to your group's comfort level and keeps the atmosphere relaxed even when the current picks up.
