The experience
The drive from San José takes 2 hours through rainforest scenery. Once you arrive, a 4x4 vehicle carries you to the first zipline platform, where you'll see the Gulf of Nicoya and the surrounding mountains. From there, the 18 cables take you through the river canyon over 11 waterfalls. Between ziplines, you rappel down one cascade, cross a Tibetan bridge suspended above the gorge, and cool off in a natural pool at the base of the water.
The activity itself runs 2.5 hours. A professional guide leads the group in either English or Spanish and stays focused on safety throughout. You'll need moderate fitness and closed-toed shoes. Bring a bathing suit to wear under your clothes so you're ready to swim when you reach the pool. The weight limit is 260 pounds, and children must be at least 6 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Hotel pickup and drop-off from San José are included if you choose that option. Without transport, you arrange your own way to the site. The vehicle is air-conditioned for the drive out and back.
