The experience
The tour starts with a 4x4 ride from Adventure Park & Hotel Vista Golfo in Puntarenas up to the first platform, where the Gulf of Nicoya and the surrounding mountains come into view. From there, you move between 18 ziplines strung across the river canyon, each one positioned to pass over or alongside one of the 11 waterfalls. Between cables, you rappel down a waterfall face, cross a Tibetan bridge suspended above the canyon, and cool off in a natural pool at the base of a cascade. The activity itself runs 2.5 hours. With the 4x4 ride and travel time from Jaco, the whole outing takes about 5 hours.
A bilingual guide stays with your group throughout, managing the safety systems and pacing the stops so you move at a steady rhythm between lines. The tour works for families with children over 6 (who must be accompanied by an adult), couples, and groups of friends, though you do need at least a moderate level of fitness: the rappelling and the bridge crossing demand some strength and balance. Weight limit is 260 pounds. Wear closed-toed shoes and bring a bathing suit under your clothes so you can swim at the pool without changing.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in one of the two options. The other option means you arrange your own transport to the park. Either way, the guide is bilingual in English and Spanish, and the group stays small enough that you get personal attention on the lines. Bring a towel, wear something you don't mind getting wet, and plan to be back at your hotel by early afternoon.
