The experience

Lazy Lizard has run catamarans out of Flamingo Marina for over 20 years. You board at 8:15 AM, and the captain takes you north along a coast dotted with tropical forest and hidden surf breaks. The boat carries snorkeling masks, fins and kayaks, so you don't pack your own gear. The crew serves drinks and snacks as you cruise.

At a secluded bay, you stop to get in the water. A guide leads snorkeling trips to a coral reef where you'll see colorful fish, or you can snorkel on your own if you prefer. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are there if you want to paddle instead. Some travelers just stay on deck and watch the marine life: dolphins, whales and manta rays often pass through this stretch of coast. The crew keeps the drinks coming while you're in the water.

After the water stops, you head back to the boat for a tropical midday meal. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available. Just let them know when you book. The whole outing takes four hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off, so the afternoon is still yours.
