The experience
What do coffee, chocolate and sugar cane actually look like growing? This tour answers the question by taking you onto a working farm in the Monteverde countryside, away from the main tourist routes. A guide walks you through each plantation in sequence, explaining the process from plant to product and pointing out the details most visitors miss. You taste fresh coffee, cocoa and cane juice at the end of each section, so the learning is concrete and immediate.
The farm's cement trails are built to handle rain or sun without becoming impassable, which means the tour runs on schedule regardless of weather. Families traveling with strollers can push them the whole way. People using walkers, crutches or wheelchairs have a solid, level surface underfoot. The guide is live and speaks either English or Spanish. Let the operator know your preference when you book, or you'll be placed randomly into a group.
Roundtrip transportation from your hotel is included in most departures. The 11:00 a.m. tour is the exception, and you can add pickup for an additional fee if you need it. Snacks come with the tour, and the whole experience takes 2.5 hours from start to finish.
