La Fortuna Waterfall, Volcano Hike & Hot Springs Tour
Swim beneath a 70-meter waterfall, hike volcanic terrain, then soak in thermal springs.
This 8-hour La Fortuna tour combines three major attractions in one day: a swim in the pool below La Fortuna Waterfall, a guided hike around the base of Arenal Volcano with wildlife spotting, and a soak in natural hot springs. The tour includes a professional local guide, lunch, admission to the waterfall and ecological park, and hotel pickup within 6 km of La Fortuna Downtown. Hotels further away than Tabacón Resort may incur an extra charge.
The Experience
The day starts with a drive to La Fortuna Waterfall, where you descend into the jungle and swim in the refreshing pool directly below the 70-meter cascade. After time in the water, you move on to the Arenal ecological park for a scenic hike around the base of Arenal Volcano. Your guide shares the volcano's history as you walk the lush rainforest trails, pointing out monkeys, birds and other wildlife that move through the canopy. The hikes are described as nice and not very intense, designed to let you take in the views without exhaustion.
The final stop is the natural hot springs, where you soak in soothing thermal waters surrounded by tropical gardens. This is where the day shifts from active exploration to pure relaxation. A professional local guide leads the entire experience and handles the logistics—you're picked up from your hotel and dropped off at the end, with lunch included in the day's cost. The guide speaks English or Spanish and stays focused on your safety and comfort throughout.
The tour works best if you have moderate physical fitness; the hikes are manageable but not flat walks. Bring a swimsuit, towel and water—the tour does not provide towels or bottled water. If your hotel sits further than Tabacón Resort from La Fortuna Downtown, confirm the pickup details when you book, as an extra charge may apply.
