The experience

Raquel was already waving when we got out of the car: camera slung over her shoulder, big smile, not at all intimidating (which I’d worried about). The sand was still cool underfoot. You know that early morning hush before the beach fills up? She had us laughing within minutes, even though I felt awkward at first. “Don’t worry,” she said, “just walk like you’re heading for ice cream.” So we did. I think I blinked too much but she caught something real anyway.
