The experience
You start at the adventure center in Jacó, where instructors walk you through how to handle the ATV before you take a test run on a private track designed for that purpose. This is not a passive ride: you control the machine from the beginning. Once you're ready, your guide leads you into the mountain on jungle trails that follow rivers and dirt roads: some smooth, some full of potholes depending on conditions and recent rain.
The riding takes roughly an hour and a half each day, moving through terrain where insects are part of the landscape. Your guide knows the route and stays with you throughout. When you reach the natural pool at the waterfall, there's time to swim and cool off. The guides bring fresh fruit and water, and you have access to the waterfall grounds as part of your entry. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If the trails are wet, mud is unavoidable. Bring a towel if you want one.
The activity runs over three days, which gives you time to build confidence on the machine and explore deeper into the terrain than a shorter ride allows. You must be at least 18 years old to ride, and a moderate level of fitness helps. The terrain is uneven and the riding demands balance and attention. Bilingual guides speak English and Spanish, and your transport to and from the center is included in the standard option.

- ATV use throughout the activity.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What happens during the instruction and test run before the actual riding starts?
You receive instruction on how to use and handle the ATV, then take a test run on a private course at the adventure center that's designed specifically for this. Once you're comfortable, you're ready to head out on the jungle trails with your guide.
Can I swim at the waterfall, or is it just a viewing stop?
You have time to swim in the natural pool at the waterfall. The guides bring fresh fruit and water, and your entry to the waterfall grounds is included, so you can spend time there cooling off and resting during the ride.
What should I wear and bring for three days of ATV riding?
Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty: mud is likely, especially if the trails are wet after rain. Bring a towel if you want one. Safety equipment and insurance are provided. Insects are present in the mountain terrain, so consider that when planning what to wear.
Is the 3-day option different from shorter ATV rides in Jacó?
The three days let you ride deeper into the jungle terrain than a single-day activity allows, building your confidence on the machine and exploring more of the landscape. The daily riding time is roughly an hour and a half, with the waterfall swim and rest built into each day.
Do I need a driver's license or special experience to ride?
You must be at least 18 years old. No prior ATV experience is required: the instruction and test run prepare you. A moderate level of physical fitness helps, since the terrain is uneven and riding demands balance and attention.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay for separately?
Insurance, safety equipment, the vehicles, fruits, water, waterfall entry and bilingual guides are all included. Transport to and from the adventure center is included in the standard option. Alcoholic beverages are not included.
