The experience
You start in downtown Minca and drive to El Zaino, the main park entrance, where your guide takes care of tickets and mandatory insurance while you wait in the vehicle: no line, no paperwork. From there the hike begins through humid and dry tropical forest, mangroves and thorny scrub, climbing gentle slopes and steeper hills as the terrain shifts. A viewpoint partway through offers a first look at the coast. The kiosk sells water and popsicles, and this is where you catch your breath and decide how far to push.
The route passes Arenilla Beach, where palm trees frame the sand, then reaches La Piscina. A smaller beach where you can swim or rest. From here you can turn back or continue to Cabo San Juan, the tour's main destination: a rocky cape with a kiosk perched on the rocks where the view opens to granite outcrops, turquoise water, sandy beaches and mountains all at once. The final stretch retraces the morning path back to the parking lot, roughly 4.7 miles from Cabo San Juan. If you want food at the end, you can order ahead at La Piscina and pick it up on the way back. Meals are at your own cost.
The whole day runs 6 to 9 hours depending on your pace and how long you spend at the beaches. Your guide speaks English and Spanish, answers questions about the park's ecosystems and indigenous communities, and lets you set the rhythm: no rushing, no fixed schedule. Transportation is air-conditioned both ways, and the private format means no group waits or compromises on timing.
