Step-by-step itinerary

Pontoon boat tour around San Andrés

  • Navigate through Mangroves of Old Point Park
  • Visit El Palito and Tiki Bar
  • Swim with fish at Marine World
  • Take photos at Instagram Beach
  • Lunch at Haines Cay (not included)
  • Swim with fish and nurse sharks at Rose Cay

The Experience

The boat leaves from San Andres and heads into the mangroves of Old Point National Park before opening into open water. You'll stop at El Palito, a shallow point with a tiki bar, then move to Marine World in front of Rose Cay, where you put on a life jacket and swim among the reef fish and occasional nurse sharks. The guide speaks English or Spanish and stays with the group throughout.

Instagram Beach comes next. The name tells you what happens there. After photos, you reach Haines Cay and Rose Cay, known locally as the Natural Aquarium because of the density of fish and coral. Lunch is available here at Haines Cay or at the Mister SeaFox Restaurant Boat, though you'll need to order and pay separately. You swim again at Rose Cay before the final leg to White Watta, a point near Cotton Cay where the Raizal and Ibiza floating bars sit anchored. Entry to those bars costs extra and is not part of the tour.

The pontoon is the largest and newest in the fleet, with room for your group and nothing else. Twenty-four beers and two ice packs come aboard. Bring your own food or plan to eat at one of the restaurant stops. Life jackets are provided and required for swimming. The boat is wheelchair accessible, and infants can ride on an adult's lap.

Lunch is not included, but you'll stop at Haines Cay or the Mister SeaFox Restaurant Boat, where you can order and pay for food separately. Bring snacks if you prefer, or plan to eat at one of those stops.

How many people can fit on the pontoon?

The boat accommodates groups from 1 to 18 people depending on which option you book at checkout. You choose the size that fits your party, and the entire boat is yours for the day.

What's included with the tour?

Life jackets, 24 beers, two ice packs, the guide, and private use of the boat are included. The guide speaks English or Spanish. Lunch, drinks beyond the 24 beers, and entry to the floating bars near Cotton Cay are not included.
