San Andrés Diving: Beginner Coral & Statue Instruction
Float among tropical fish and underwater statues on your first dive
Beginner diving instruction in San Andrés with expert instructors teaching you the basics of equipment, breathing and underwater communication before you descend into coral reefs and encounter submerged statues. Hotel pickup is included; the class runs three hours and requires no prior experience. Not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with cardiovascular concerns.
The Experience
You arrive at the diving school after pickup from your hotel, and the instructors walk you through the gear—how the regulator works, how to breathe underwater, what the hand signals mean. It takes a few minutes to understand; the team stays with you the whole time. Then you board a boat headed to a coral reef in the sea of seven colors, and the real part begins.
Underwater, you're floating among vibrant corals and tropical fish moving in every direction. The seabed holds submerged statues—sculptures placed deliberately to create something between nature and art—and you drift past them at the pace the instructors set. The biodiversity around San Andrés makes the reef itself feel alive in a way no photograph prepares you for.
The whole experience runs three hours from start to finish. You'll need to wait at least 24 hours before flying again after diving, so plan accordingly if you're traveling on or off the island the same day.
What’s included

- hotel pickup.
