The Experience

Mornings here start cool—mist clings to the hills as we set off down a narrow path. The first thing I noticed was the sound of water somewhere ahead. Our guide, Luis, pointed out tiny yellow birds darting between guava trees. After about twenty minutes, we reached a small waterfall—nothing huge, but the water was so clear you could see every pebble at the bottom. I dipped my hands in; it was icy and fresh.
