The Experience

The day starts with pickup in Cali and a drive to Buga, where you'll sit down to a typical regional breakfast before boarding a colorful mini goat—a traditional open-sided vehicle—for a tour of the city's main attractions. You'll pass the Basilica of the Lord of Miracles, the Religious Museum and the historic center's emblematic streets, with time built in to sample regional flavors and shop. The mini goat is how locals move through Buga, and riding it puts you in the rhythm of the place instead of behind glass.

From Buga, you travel to Hacienda Piedechinche, a colonial-era farm estate with more than 300 years of history. Walking the grounds shows how Valle del Cauca farm families lived and worked, and the architecture itself—the buildings, the layout, the way the land was organized—tells the story of the region's agricultural past. Next is the Cane Museum, an open-air site holding ancient trapiches (sugar-pressing equipment), gardens and the material history of the sugar industry that shaped the valley.
