The Experience
Two days means you cover the signature sights without rushing through them or coming back a third time. Day 1 starts with hotel pickup and heads straight to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge—officially called Yuntiandu, or "Cloud Sky Crossing." The bridge's floor is triple-layered transparent tempered glass, so you're looking straight down 300 meters into the canyon as you walk. It holds multiple world records and offers the world's highest commercial bungee jump if you want that; most people just walk and photograph. After the bridge, the guide takes you into Zhangjiajie National Forest Park proper, starting at Yellow Stone Village, which sits at 1,200 meters and stays less crowded than the main park areas. You'll see the Six Stranges Pagoda, Picking Star Platform, Five Finger Peak and Lover Peaks before taking a cable car down. Then comes Golden Whip Stream, a 7.5-kilometer walk that winds through mountains and valleys with water running clear year-round. The stream is named for Jinbian Rock, a 382-meter formation that looks like a flying bird.
Day 2 is about the peaks themselves. The Bailong Elevator—the world's tallest full-exposure outdoor lift—carries you up Yuanjiajie, where the mountains inspired Avatar's Hallelujah Mountain. You'll find First Bridge under Heaven and Lover Peaks at the top. A sightseeing bus then takes you to Tianzi Mountain, where the view spreads across the whole scenic area: peaks rising one after another, with four natural wonders the operator names—the Sea of Clouds, Radiance of the Moonlight, Rays of Sunshine and Snow in winter. The Tianzi Cableway brings you down from there. All transport between sites, the guide, entry to the park and Glass Bridge, and the three cable cars are arranged; you just show up at your hotel in the morning.

Is this one for you?Day 1 involves walking the Glass Bridge and a 7.5-kilometer stream walk, and Day 2 adds walking at two mountain peaks, so this tour suits travelers with moderate fitness who are comfortable on their feet for several hours each day. The cable cars handle the steepest climbs, which is what makes the full two-day route possible without a guide who specializes in technical hiking.
