After exploring the daytime market, you stop for dinner at a riverside restaurant your guide recommends, giving you time to rest and take in the town as it begins to transform. Then you move into the western section (Xizha), the liveliest part of town once the lights come on. You walk across the ancient stone bridges and through alleys now decorated with lanterns and glowing reflections on the water. If you want a different vantage point, you can arrange a gondola ride along the canal to see the lit buildings and bridges from the water. This costs extra and you pay the boatman directly.
