The experience

Your guide picks you up from your downtown hotel at 8:30 am in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The day centers on Laoshan Scenic Area, a mountain that faces the Yellow Sea on two sides and spans 87 kilometers of coastline. You'll walk the grounds of Taiqing Palace, a Taoist temple with over 2,000 years of history and the largest existing building on the mountain. Your guide explains the Taoist culture and the landscape as you move through the site.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you head to Xiaoyushan Park, which sits 60 meters above sea level. This is the vantage point for seeing Zhan Bridge, Small Qingdao Island and the city's other landmarks. You can climb the Lanchao Pavilion for views across the water.
