The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Guilin hotel and a 90-minute drive to Longsheng county, where the Longji Rice Terraces rise in dramatic stepped layers across the hillsides. Once you arrive, you walk for 3–4 hours through the terraced fields. The pace is easy and short, with stops to take in the scale of the landscape. The walking is the heart of the day: you move through the working terraces themselves, not just view them from a distance.

An hour in a Yao or Zhuang ethnic minority village is built into the itinerary, giving you time to see how people live in this region. Lunch is a local meal prepared in the area and eaten during the tour. Your private guide (available in English, Spanish, French, Italian or German) travels with you throughout and handles all the logistics. Your driver manages the transfers and the vehicle.

The tour ends with a return drive to your Guilin hotel, arriving in the late afternoon. All entrance tickets to the terraces and the village are included, as is the private guide and driver service. Bring comfortable walking shoes and water. The terrain is uneven and the walk covers real distance, though it is graded as suitable for all fitness levels.
