The experience
The walk starts at Jiuxi Stream, where a cobblestone path winds through nine creeks lined with trees. Your guide leads you across shallow water and through seasonal greenery, taking in the fresh air and the quiet of the place before the terrain climbs toward the tea fields. The stream section sets the pace: unhurried, with time to notice the water and the landscape.
From there the route follows the Longjing tea terraces, where vast green mountains surround the slopes. Your guide teaches you how to pick the leaves and explains the traditional tea culture as you walk the terrace rows. The hike ends at a farmer's house in the village, where you sit down to a local meal and taste the fresh green tea you've just learned about. The whole experience runs four to five hours, with the guide handling the route and the timing.
Your local guide speaks English, German or Chinese, and hotel or train station pickup is part of the booking. Groups of one to four travel by car. Groups of five or more get a private MPV van. If you choose the morning departure, lunch is included. The afternoon option pairs with dinner instead. You can request dietary adjustments when you book, and the tour runs in all weather: dress for the season and the altitude.

What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, German and Chinese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 7 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What is the Longjing tea plantation like when you get there?
Longjing is a series of terraced slopes planted with green tea, surrounded by mountains. You walk among the rows with your guide, who shows you how to pick the leaves and talks about the traditional methods and history of the tea. The village sits within the plantation, and that's where you stop for the meal and tasting.
Can I book just the morning or just the afternoon, or do I have to do both?
You pick one departure time at checkout: morning or afternoon. The morning tour includes lunch. The afternoon includes dinner. There's no full-day option, and you don't combine them.
How does the pickup work if I'm staying at a train station instead of a hotel?
The guide and driver will collect you from your train station if that's where you're staying. After the tour ends, they'll drop you back at your hotel or another downtown location in Hangzhou as you request.
What's included in the meal at the farmer's house?
The meal is a local lunch or dinner depending on which departure you book, served in the farmer's house in the village. Fresh green tea from the plantation is part of it. If you have dietary requests, tell the operator when you reserve.
Is this tour suitable if I'm not very fit or haven't hiked before?
The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The Jiuxi Stream section is a walk on a paved path through shallow creeks. The tea plantation section is a hike on terrace slopes, but the guide sets the pace and there's a meal break in the middle.
