Step-by-step itinerary
Bamboo forest hike and tea plantation visit
- Meet guide at hotel or railway station
- Hike in Yunxi Zhujing bamboo forest
- Visit Meijiawu or Longjing Tea Village
- Enjoy tea tasting and learn tea culture
- Walk in tea fields and see plants
- Return to hotel or railway station
The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your Hangzhou hotel or the railway station, then heads straight to Yunxi Zhujing Scenic Resort. The bamboo forest there is dense enough that you're surrounded by green, and the hike is short enough that moderate fitness is all you need. Your private guide walks with you and can point out details most visitors miss on their own.
After the bamboo forest, you move to either Meijiawu or Longjing Tea Village: your guide chooses based on the day's conditions and crowds. This is where the tea experience happens: you walk into the actual tea fields to see the plants up close, taste several teas while your guide explains the differences between them, and hear the real history of Chinese tea culture instead of the tourist version. The guide also covers how to brew tea properly at home, which most people find useful after they leave. Lunch is included and built around local flavors.
The whole thing runs four to five hours from start to finish, which means it fits into an afternoon if you arrive in the morning, or a morning if you're staying overnight. You're back at your hotel or the railway station by early afternoon or late morning, depending on which tour time you book.

What exactly happens during the tea plantation part?
You walk into the tea fields at Meijiawu or Longjing Tea Village to see the tea plants growing, then sit down for a tasting where your guide walks you through several different teas and explains how they're made, their history, and how to brew them at home. Lunch follows, featuring local dishes.
Is the bamboo forest hike difficult?
No. It's a short hike through Yunxi Zhujing Scenic Resort, and the operator asks for at least moderate physical fitness. Wear comfortable shoes and you'll be fine. The guide sets the pace and there's no rush.
