The experience

The day starts at your hotel at 9am with pickup by your private driver and guide. Fubo Hill comes first: a limestone peak rising from the river itself, named for a Tang Dynasty general. You'll climb nearly 350 steps past the Sword Testing Stone to reach the 1,000 Buddha Cave, where more than 200 Buddha statues carved during the Tang Dynasty line the walls. The height gives you a bird's-eye view of the city and the river below.

Next is Reed Flute Cave, known locally as the Palace of Natural Arts. Inside, colored lights illuminate stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers in shades that shift as you walk through. After lunch (included), your driver takes you to Elephant Trunk Hill, the symbol of Guilin. The peak sits where the Li River and Peach River meet, and its shape (a limestone trunk dipping toward the water) is what gave it the name. The formation is more than 3.6 million years old and rises 55 meters above the green water.

Seven Star Park fills the final hours. It's the largest park in Guilin, covering 1.34 square kilometers, and takes its name from seven peaks arranged like the Big Dipper constellation. Inside you'll find Seven Star Cave, Dragon Hiding Cave, a small zoo, a photography spot with live camels, Camel Hill, cultural displays, and Guihai Forest of Steles. The park sits on the eastern side of the Li River in central Guilin.

Is this one for you?The private guide and driver mean you move at your own pace through each site without waiting for a group to gather, and the fixed itinerary fits all four landmarks, plus lunch, into a single afternoon. If you're traveling with young children or prefer not to navigate on your own, the pickup from your hotel and the included guide handle both.
