Your driver picks you up at your hotel at 8am and takes you to Dujiangyan Panda Base for a 2.5-hour visit. The base is the only research institute in China dedicated to panda disease prevention and field rescue, with scientific partnerships across nine countries including the United States, UK, Austria, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Belgium. You walk through four gardens (Hope Garden, Shuangnan Garden, Butterfly Spring Garden and Linze Garden), where 40 panda shelters are open to the public. The pandas range from babies to adults, and you watch them during their morning feeding.
After the panda base, you travel by bus to Mount Qingcheng, a world cultural heritage site and one of the birthplaces of Taoism. The mountain rises 1,260 meters above sea level and covers 200 square kilometers, surrounded by continuous peaks and dense forests. You take a cable car up the mountain, then hike about 30 minutes to reach the summit, where you get a bird's-eye view across the range. The mountain is known as one of the most peaceful places in China, and the quiet is broken only by running water, birdsong, wind through the trees and your own footsteps.
The full tour runs about 4 hours on the mountain and base combined. Your driver returns you to your Chengdu hotel in the evening, completing the day trip. Bottled water is provided throughout.
