The experience

The show follows three brothers whose different choices during 1949 (a pivotal year in Chongqing and China) shape their fates. Instead of watching from a fixed vantage point, you're placed inside the story as the stage itself changes around you. Live performances, music, lighting, projections, sound, smoke, fire and rain build each scene: old Chongqing streets give way to a dark prison, then to a large-scale ship, each one a new visual world. The rotating seats in Areas A and B let you follow the action without turning your head, though fixed seating is available in Areas C and D.

The theatre sits at No. 999 Jinbi Zhengjie in Shapingba District, steps from Ciqikou Ancient Town. Take Metro Line 1 to Ciqikou Station or buses 504, 202 or 805 to Jinbi Zhengjie Bus Stop. A free ear-hook audio guide is provided in your choice of language. Printed show guides are also free. Children under 1.2m ride free on an adult's lap or in a stroller, and one child per adult enters without a seat. The theatre is wheelchair accessible and suited to all fitness levels.

You'll choose your seating when you book: Premium or Deluxe rotating seats for a full 360° view, or Standard, Standard Plus or VIP fixed seating if you prefer to stay still. A refundable deposit of RMB 150 per person (payable by cash, WeChat Pay or Alipay) is required for the audio guide device and returned when you hand it back.
