The Experience

Valparaíso comes first—the historic port where you walk through neighborhoods layered with graffiti and street art, ride the famous elevators that climb the hillsides, and step into La Sebastiana, the home where poet Pablo Neruda lived. The house opens onto a garden and a viewpoint that frames the city below. From there the tour moves to Viña del Mar, where the beaches run long and the Casino sits as a landmark of the city's glamour. The Fonck Museum holds the remains of an original Easter Island Moai, one of the few outside Rapa Nui itself.

The second half crosses into Casablanca Valley, one of Chile's major wine regions. You travel through vineyards—Casas del Bosque and Emiliana are among the estates in the area—and stop at the Wine Market Rio Tinto, where you can browse bottles ranging from 2,000 pesos to 100,000. The valley's white wines are what the region is known for, and the stop gives you a chance to buy without the pressure of a tasting room visit.
