The experience

You meet your guide at El Comendador 2060 and start riding toward the city center through bike trails that border San Cristóbal Hill. The route takes you through Bellavista, the bohemian neighborhood where you pass Pablo Neruda's house (La Chascona) and hear about the poet's life. From there you bike through streets lined with street art and murals, stopping at Tirso de Molina, a popular fruit and vegetable market where you try fresh local juices and see what Chileans grow.

The tour then moves into Santiago's historic core: the Metropolitan Cathedral, Plaza de Armas where local artists gather, the Central Post Office, and La Moneda Palace, where your guide explains the country's political history. You stop at Plaza de la Constitución in front of the palace, then continue to Santiago Central Market, the city's main fish market. The route includes Forestal Park and the Lastarria neighborhood, known for its art scene and nightlife, plus a ride through Balmaceda Park and along Vitacura, where you see the Costanera Center, South America's tallest building. The Bellas Artes Museum visit is optional, as is a ride up San Cristóbal Hill trails for views over the city. The tour ends at the Sculpture Park open-air museum.

All equipment is provided: a Trek 3900 or Mongoose mountain bike, helmet, gloves, and an emergency kit. You'll need moderate fitness and athletic clothing. The minimum height is 4'5" and maximum is 6'6". Children must be accompanied by an adult.
