The return ride splits: riverside paths or a climb to the hilltop with views over the whole city.

A 2-hour mountain bike tour through Santiago's main parks and neighborhoods—Vitacura, Providencia, and Santiago Centro—in a group of no more than seven riders. You pedal past the Sculpture Park Museum and through Bicentennial Park, then choose your own ending: an easy ride along the Mapocho River or an intermediate climb up San Cristóbal Hill. The tour includes a Trek or Mongoose mountain bike, helmet, gloves, water bottle and emergency kit; a live guide leads in English or Spanish.

Step-by-step itinerary

Explore Santiago by mountain bike

  • Meet guide at El Comendador 2060
  • Ride through Sculpture Park and stop
  • Bike through Sanhattan financial district
  • Cycle along bike paths in Vitacura
  • Visit Bicentennial Park and see lagoons
  • Choose return route: Mapocho river or San Cristóbal hill
  • Bike Parque Metropolitano trails back

The Experience

You meet your guide at El Comendador 2060 and set out eastward on the main park routes. The first stop is the Sculpture Park Museum, an outdoor collection of Latin American sculpture where you pause to take in the views before pedaling on. From there the route moves through Sanhattan—Santiago's financial district—where you'll see Costanera, the tallest building in Latin America, then continues into the modern Vitacura neighborhood on dedicated bike paths.

Bicentennial Park comes next, with its cycling routes winding past lagoons, koi fish, black-necked swans and flamingos. This is where the day splits. The easy return follows the bike paths bordering the Mapocho River back to the start. If you have stronger legs and want more elevation, you can take the Metropolitan Park Trails instead—a 30-minute average climb toward San Cristóbal Hill, then a relaxed descent with views across the city before the final stretch back through the park trails to your starting point.

Top questions

Can I choose which route I take on the way back?

Yes. The return offers two options: an easy ride along the Mapocho River bike paths, or the intermediate Metropolitan Park Trails, which include a 30-minute uphill section toward San Cristóbal Hill followed by a downhill descent with city views. You decide based on your fitness level when you reach that point.

What's included with the bike tour?

The tour includes a Trek 3900 or Mongoose mountain bike, helmet, biking gloves, a water bottle and an emergency kit. Your guide leads the group in English or Spanish.

How many people ride together on this tour?

Groups stay small—no more than seven riders—so the pace stays manageable and you're not waiting for a large group to regroup at each stop.

What is the Sculpture Park Museum?

The Sculpture Park Museum is an outdoor museum dedicated to Latin American sculpture arts. You make a short stop there early in the ride to see the works and enjoy the views before continuing eastward.

Do I need to be an experienced mountain biker?

You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The easy return route is accessible to most riders, but the intermediate Metropolitan Park Trails option requires stronger cardiovascular fitness and climbing ability. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.

What's the age requirement?

Riders must be at least 12 years old. The bikes are sized for heights between 4'5" and 6'6" (1.37 m to 2 m).
