The experience

The tour departs your hotel and heads south toward Praia de Chaves, a sandy beach near Sal Rei where a prominent coastal chimney marks the site of old pottery and ceramic production. You'll stop at the dunes, take photographs, then continue through Morro de Areia (an expansive golden stretch running along the coast) before reaching Praia de Varandinha, where a natural arch rises from the cliff face.

Santa Monica Beach, the main event, is the largest beach in Boa Vista and Cape Verde, stretching over 20 kilometers. The jeep stops here for a swim in the ocean and more time to photograph the scale of the sand. After Santa Monica, the route passes Boca Beach on the return journey back to your hotel on the main road.
