Big game fishing off Boa Vista pairs you with Captain Adilton, a lifelong local fisherman, on a 22ft motorboat rigged with GPS, marine radio and fish finder. Your catch is either released or sold at the fish market. Private transportation, fishing rods and refreshments are included.

The experience
Captain Adilton was born on Boa Vista and has spent his life reading the ocean here. He handles the boat (a 7-meter motorboat with a 130hp main engine and 4hp outboard), and explains the techniques as you fish, helping you work the rod when a strike comes. The boat leaves from the fisherman's pier at Te Manché in Sal Rei, motors through the harbor and bay, then heads into open water where the trolling begins. You fish at low speed, which gives the captain time to position the boat and you time to feel the pull.
The activity itself is straightforward: you cast and hold the rod, watching the water and waiting for the strike. There is no experience required: Adilton handles the navigation and the heavy lifting of boat handling. What you need is the patience to sit with a rod for hours and the willingness to work the line when something takes the bait. The boat carries drinks and sandwiches to keep you going. Whether your catch goes back into the sea or to the fish market is your call.
Private transportation from your hotel to the pier is included in the booking. The activity runs five hours total. Note that a taxi from Hotel Riu Touareg costs €50 extra and is paid at the pier on arrival if you need it. The boat is equipped with GPS, marine radio and fishing radar, so Adilton knows where to find the fish and can keep you safe on the water.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What fish can I actually catch off Boa Vista?
Marlin, Tuna and Wahoo are the main targets. The captain trolls the open water where these species run, and whether you land one depends on the day and the conditions, not on your experience level.
Do I need to know how to fish to book this?
No. Captain Adilton handles the boat and explains the techniques as you fish. He helps you work the rod when a fish strikes. You need patience and the willingness to hold a rod for hours, not prior experience.
What happens to the fish I catch?
You decide. The fish can be released back into the sea or sold at the fish market. The captain will help you land it either way.
How long does the fishing trip take?
The activity runs five hours from departure at the pier in Sal Rei through the bay and out to open water, then back to shore.
