The experience

You arrive at the crag with a guide who has already scouted the day's options. The guide sets up the ropes and anchors on routes ranging from very easy to very challenging, then walks you through the basics of movement, footwork and how to trust the equipment. All the technical work (the knots, the safety checks, the anchor placement) is done before you start climbing. Your job is to climb, and the guide stays close, offering real-time advice on technique and encouragement as you work through each route.

Squamish and Whistler hold some of the region's most sought-after single-pitch crags, and your guide knows which ones suit the day's conditions and your group's abilities. A beginner and an experienced climber can climb the same day on different routes. The variety means there's always something that matches what you're ready for. The guide takes photos throughout the session, so you leave with images of yourself on the rock.

A half-day session fits a morning or afternoon. A full-day option lets you work through more routes and spend longer at the crag. Bring water and snacks if you want them. The guide won't provide them. You'll need moderate fitness to climb for several hours, and the physical demands build as the day goes on. The guide speaks English, French or Japanese, depending on which option you book.
